Obituary for George Pappas

PAPPAS, George John, of Richmond, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Pappas; and his sister, Katherine John Pappas. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Kalafatis Pappas; and brothers, Anthony John Pappas (Ruth), and William John Pappas (Janet); and sister, Stella Pappas Provel (Christopher); and numerous loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 26, at Bliley’s – Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, followed by interment at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Malvern Ave., Richmond, Va. 23221.
