Night Lights Branded For Dominion Power Pose Safety Risk

July 7, 2010 by admin · 1 Comment

20100702161722ENPRNPRN-DOMINION-VIRGINIA-POWER-NIGHLIGHTS-1y-1278087442MRDominion Virginia Power said today that night lights bearing the Dominion logo distributed between 2007-2010 could pose a potential fire risk and should be unplugged and discarded. The company is no longer distributing the night lights.

Dominion issued the alert after learning of some incidents related to the night lights. No injuries were reported.

Dominion gave away about 3,500 of the low-energy night lights from 2007-2010 as a gift to help promote energy conservation.

The night lights distributed were UL-listed and have not been recalled by the manufacturer. Testing duplicated the safety problem only when the product became wet. However, as a safety precaution, Dominion recommends that the night lights be discarded.

Dominion is continuing to speak to community organizations on ways their members can conserve energy. For tips on saving energy, see www.dom.com, keyword Conservation.

Dominion (NYSE: D) is one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of more than 27,500 megawatts of generation.
