Suspect in Miller Mart Robbery Sought by Police

gun-crime1-291x300Police are searching for an unidentified man who robbed Miller Mart at 2910 Turner Road at about 9:20 p.m. on June 14. Police believe this may be the same suspect who robbed the store on May 10.

A man entered the store, jumped the counter, displayed a gun and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Several customers were in the store at the time of the robbery, but no one was hurt.

The suspect is a black male, 160 pounds, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He wore a white T-shirt that he used to conceal his face, dark jeans, and a blue baseball hat.

Chesterfield SWAT Team Removes Man From Home

handcuffs-11Police responded to the 600 block of Clearlake Road for a disturbance between residents in the home at about 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 26. As a result of that incident, police obtained a warrant for Joseph Scott, 44, for possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.

Police negotiators tried unsuccessfully for hours to get Scott to exit the home and surrender. At 3:30 a.m. today, the SWAT Team removed him from the home and took him into custody. No one was injured in the original disturbance or subsequent arrest.

Passenger Identified in Two-Vehicle Crash

515699__broken_car_2CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department has released the identity of the passenger who was killed in the Dec. 20 vehicle crash in the 22400 block of Hull Street Road.

Police said a 2003 Nissan Altima was traveling east on Hull Street Road when the driver collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV traveling east. The Nissan then left the road and struck a tree.

The passenger of the Nissan, Debbi M. Johnson, 45, of the 300 block of Hunt Avenue in Richmond, died at the hospital.

Driver and Passenger Killed in Hull Street Road Accident

285433_car_accidentThe Chesterfield County Police Department has released the identity of the driver who was killed in a vehicle crash in the 22400 block of Hull Street Road at about 3:07 p.m. today.

Police said a 2003 Nissan Altima was traveling east on Hull Street Road when the driver collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV traveling east. The Nissan then left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver of the Nissan, Edwin C. Owens, of the 3400 block of Canesville Lane in Henrico died at the scene. The passenger was transported to VCU Medical Center and later died from injuries sustained from the crash. The identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Trailblazer driver was not injured.

Police continue their investigation into this crash.

Four Teens Arrested for Vandalism

110672_shatteredCHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VAFour teen boys between 13 and 14 years old have been arrested and charged for vandalizing several vehicles at a construction site at 5011 Ecoff Avenue.

Police responded to the site on Dec. 14 after employees from two different companies discovered numerous company vehicles had smashed windows, windshields, headlights, body and engine damage. Conservative estimated damages exceed $20,000.

The teens are each charged with two counts of felony destruction of property and have been released to the custody of their parents. The teens’ names are being withheld due to their ages.
