			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Chesterfield County  Fourth of July Celebration will be Monday, July 4, at the Chesterfield  County Fairgrounds. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the fireworks  display beginning at dark. This year will feature a special activity  area for kids and family-friendly entertainment. Blankets and lawn  chairs are recommended. Alcohol, glass bottles, pets and personal  fireworks are prohibited. Please note that this is a very popular event,  and limited parking is available. Roads leading to the fairgrounds will  close at 9 p.m., or when parking lots are full.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For more than 20 years Chesterfield County, with the help of many corporate and individual sponsors, has conducted numerous events that have made Chesterfield County the region’s leader in annual Black History Month celebrations.</p>
<p>This year, the county will sponsor a program that includes lectures, African dance, puppet shows and storytelling.</p>
<p>&#8220;Chesterfield County is proud to have commemorated Black History Month for the past 22 years with a wide variety of programs and events. We deeply value the rich heritage and contributions of African Americans to our community and our nation. It is because of our diversity that Chesterfield County is a First Choice community for people of all ethnic backgrounds,&#8221; said County Administrator James J. L. Stegmaier.</p>
<p>“The Storyteller” presented by Dylan Pritchett – Explore African and African-American culture through stories, games, music and audience participation. Registration is recommended and begins on January 15.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Adults aged 50 and older are invited to get into the holiday spirit with a trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Tuesday, Dec. 7. Enjoy a guided tour of the conservatory and eat a buffet dinner in the Robin’s Room restaurant. After dinner, explore the annual lights display, Gardenfest of Lights. The show features more than 500,000 lights arranged in botanical themes throughout the garden and conservatory.</p>
<p>After leaving Lewis Ginter, the bus will travel downtown to see the famous lights display at the James Center. Time permitting, a quick stop may also be made at the Jefferson Hotel to see their signature Christmas tree and giant gingerbread house.</p>
<p>The tour is $93 per person, and includes entry to all displays, dinner, and round-trip transportation. The bus will depart from the Target in Chester at 3 p.m., returning at 10 p.m., and at Chippenham Hospital at 3:30 p.m., returning at 9:30 p.m.</p>
