The Chesterfield County Department for Parks and Recreation will present two “Lord Chesterfield” History Day Camps beginning Tuesday, July 27, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The “Lord Chesterfield” History Day Camps are for children ages 9-12. The camps will feature three half-day sessions with visits to the following historic sites located near the county government complex off Iron Bridge Road: Magnolia Grange, the Chesterfield County Museum, and historic Castlewood.
The camps offer a variety of activities that address typical activities of plantation life: domestic chores, life of a Civil War solider, period children’s games, Colonial militia training, coal mining, and railroad history. Life in rural Chesterfield and archaeology will also be addressed.
Sessions for the camp will be held Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., July 27-29, and August 17-19. A maximum of 15 participants will be accepted with a fee of $65 per child, which includes snacks and water.
