Multi-Vehicle Accident on 95 Ties Up Traffic In Richmond

On Wednesday, August 4th at 1413 hours the Richmond Department of Emergency Communication was alerted to a traffic accident on Interstate 95 South between the exits of Maury Street and Bells Road. The accident involved a military vehicle and a four door sedan with one person trapped inside. Q-21, Q-22, Rescue 3, Safety 2 and BC-3 were dispatched. Rescue 3 arrived on-scene confirming one person trapped in a car and requested ALS Q-6 to respond. Rescue 3 began extricating the patient and Q-21 established patient care as Q-22 controlled hazards. The patient was extricated in about 25 minutes and was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Fire units remained on scene until 1600 hours.
