Routine Fire Alarm Turns Real at Richmond High Rise

July 1, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

richmond-fireAt 0829 hours on June 21st, Richmond Fire and Emergency Services received what seemed to be a routine fire alarm to an elderly high rise building in the 1000 block of German School Road. Q-23 and E-22 arrived on location at the same time with nothing showing from a high rise facility; Q-23 established command of the incident. Q-23 command was met by a maintenance worker indicating that there was a mattress on fire on the 5th floor. Q-23 and E-22 personnel went to the 5th floor and reported smoke on the 5th floor and requested a smoke ejector. The fire was contained to the mattress and no one was injured. Units cleared the scene shortly before 10 this morning.
